Domaine de Fontenille

Provence, Luberon, France

Our Story

Born in the heart of Provence, at the foot of the Luberon, Fontenille wines reflect the soul of this land. Winegrowing at Fontenille dates back to the early 1600s to the Savorin family. They farmed the stony clay-limestone soils on the sunny hillsides that provide ideal ripeness for the grapes, and a mistral wind that protects and ventilates the vines. In 2013, oenologist and Provence wine specialist Laurence Berlemont began restoring the estate to its historic 35 hectares, all surrounding the domaine. Committed to sustainability, the estate has been converting to organic farming since 2014 and now features a modern winery built in traditional style. A range of vinification techniques are employed in a cellar optimized for quality, including rounded concrete tanks in a semicircle and rows of stainless steel tanks set alongside oak barrels. All these assets make Fontenille a wine-growing jewel with a freshness and generosity that set the Luberon apart from the great terroirs of Provence.
