Owner, António Canto Moniz descended from a family of farmers over 5 generations with a strong connection to the Dão region. The name of the current wine “Vinha Paz“ was inspired by António’s mother (Maria da Paz Othon). Vinha Paz translates to “Vineyard of Peace.” The harvest and vinification had been supervised by Sr. Magalhães Coelho who has been responsible for the rebirth of the Dão and in 2003 was named “Portuguese Winemaker of the Year”. In 2003, Vinha Paz also received a prestigious award from Portugal’s top wine magazines as “The Revelation Winery of the Year”.
